ALIYAH

Daniel sat in his easy chair and stared out the window, cat snug in
his lap. His mind wandered over the last several weeks since his retirement,
or phase out as was happening to much of Israel's military structure.
Many job offers had come various multi-nationals,
airlines and even local universities. He could even work with Joseph
in some branch of the Agri Ministry. There was even some talk of a political
job which Daniel detested more than anything. He would rather sit and
rock his pet cat than to become entwined with a gathering of vain, egotistical
compromisers seeking their own ends.
The
horrific site of the mass graves to the East stuck in Daniel's mind.
The small mountains of weapons and armor and vehicles! It was truly
bizarre. The rotten fruit of self-destruction caused by a handful of
mad politicians who totally ignored the lesson learned by the ancient
Pharaoh of Egypt. The loss of life and billions of dollars worth of
materials staggered the imagination. The God of the Torah, the Lord
of the Tanach certainly had the final word. Somehow Daniel knew there
was more to be said, much more.
